The Journey is a long single-player campaign where players join Lance and his group of merry mercenaries all around Pangea, fighting off the great evils of each Island and exchanging friendly banter along the way.
You can find Journey on the main screen:
Each Island is filled with Bosses armed and ready to take you on in a battle of wits.
Before every fight, you can see what sort of battle awaits you at that stage:
On the Boss screen, you can see:
- List of available factions which you will be able to use during the battle.
- Level of your Heroes that is recommended to defeat the Boss.
- Rewards that you will get for defeating the Boss.
Keep in mind, that the recommended level is the level that is necessary for all of the available Heroes to defeat the Boss. Even if you have a level 61 Butcher, he won't be able to help you much in a battle where you can use only the Empire faction.
In general, the best way to prepare for a battle or to analyze a sudden defeat is to check out the levels of your Heroes that are available for a battle and make sure that most of them have levels equal to or above the recommended.
During a match, you will see a few changes when it comes to the Journey battle compared to a Ranked match in Auto Brawl Chess.
- The Boss's synergies and abilities are visible, allowing you to make more informed decisions on what to do and which units to purchase.
- You can see the Boss's board before starting the actual battle.
- Once you are ready to fight, you can press the Fight button, and the match will begin immediately.
- The number of your Squad increases automatically by 1 each round.
- Starting amount of Gold and your income are increased.
To win against the Boss in the Journey, you have to defeat all of their Heroes for 3 rounds without losing. Keep in mind that the Boss also uses the time between rounds to improve their squad, so you have to adapt and improve. If you lose a fight, you may always retry from the beginning.
However, keep in mind that Lance and his crew never leave a job unfinished. It means that once defeated, you may never be able to defeat this Boss again.
